IBA student mentors university students globally

Staying true to the IBA’s mandate of providing quality education to all, one of our talented students, Syed Usman Ali, MBA Class of 2021, has been certified as a ‘X-Culture Global Virtual Team Coach’. Ali not only served as a global coach for X-Culture 2021 but also made his mark by mentoring more than 5000 students from 150 universities. He assisted the learning process by creating and facilitating a live, interactive webinar which benefitted the participants of the programme.

Furthermore, he was recognized by the organizers for his exceptional analytical thinking, mentoring skills and being a dynamic team player.

IBA student part of the winning team of X-Culture 2020

The IBA Karachi is extremely proud to announce that Syed Usman Ali, MBA Class of 2021, was part of the winning team of X-Culture 2020.

X-Culture with its open innovation concept, is a large-scale global competition where students from all over the world develop strategies for real companies while working in diverse cultural teams.

This year, a total of 5,955 participants from 150 universities in 78 countries constituting 1,277 teams presented their strategies and Syed Usman Ali's team comprising of Jan Engeln from Germany, Dillon Dewald from USA, Bálint Iván Tilesch from Hungary and Joshua Okeyo from Kenya successfully defeated intense competition with their report and presentation. Their strategy focused on a company called Birstonas Mineral Water, which is situated in Lithuania.

About X-Culture:

X-Culture is a large-scale international experiential learning project that involves over 3,500 MBA and business students from 100 universities from 40 countries on six continents every semester. The students are placed in global virtual teams of about seven, each student coming from a different country. Working with people from around the globe and dealing with cultural differences, time-zone dispersion, and global communication challenges, the teams complete a consulting project for a multi-national company.
