SBS hosts a panel discussion on ‘Adoption of Digital Technologies in Industry’

May 08, 2024: The School of Business Studies (SBS) at the IBA Karachi, hosted a panel discussion on the ‘Adoption of Digital Technologies in Industry’. The distinguished panelists were Mr. Faisal Anwar, Chief Information Officer, MCB Bank Limited and Mr. Farhan Haroon, Chief Executive Officer, and General Manager, Haleon Pakistan Limited. The session was moderated by SBS faculty member, Dr. Khalid Basit.

The discussion began by focusing on the types of technology already adopted by the industry. Mr. Haroon gave examples of how their supply chain support system uses meteorological data to predict dynamic changes in demand, while Mr. Anwar spoke of the importance of decision support systems (DSS) installed in banks to fight online fraud in real-time. They both spoke about how people must apply critical thinking skills to use pertinent technologies to smoothen out relevant processes.

Both the industry experts stressed on the need to cultivate a digital mindset, or simply, the strategy of using technology to improve business.

The SBS looks forward to holding further sessions that explore how technology and business can be used to enhance business activities.
