KUL becomes a certified member of the Global Urban Observatory Network coordinated by UN-Habitat
April 26, 2022: The Karachi Urban Lab (KUL) at IBA, founded by Dr. Nausheen H. Anwar, Professor of City & Regional Planning, Department of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts, School of Economics & Social Sciences, IBA; is an interdisciplinary, collaborative platform of research, teaching, mentoring, and advocacy.
The KUL is now certified as a member of the Global Urban Observatory Network (GUO-Net), an international initiative led by the UN-Habitat, aiming to advance the urban observatory models.
Global Urban Observatory Network (GUO-Net) is overseeing and coordinating 374 urban observatories worldwide, 101 in Africa, 143 in Asia and 130 in Latin America. Its main purpose is to enhance the production, access and use of urban data and knowledge in support of the implementation of city and country-specific development strategies, as well as global agendas such as the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and its related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Sendai Framework for disaster risk reduction 2015-2030, Paris Agreement on climate change and the New Urban Agenda.
