Industry leaders emphasize promotion of local brands

May 26, 2023: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi hosted the second series of 'Tum, Mein Aur Aik Cup Chai' in collaboration with Tapal at the City Campus. The initiative focused on a discussion centered around youth-specific topics.

The panelists for the session included, Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director, IBA; Mr. Samar Hayat, CEO, Tapal Tea (Pvt) Ltd.; Mr. Kashan Hasan, IBA Alumni and CEO, Shan Foods; Mr. Muhammad Fareed Alam, CEO, AKD Securities; Mr. Raza Pirbhai, CEO, KFC Pakistan; and Ms. Misbah Naqvi, IBA Alumni and Founder & GP, i2i Ventures. The session was moderated by Ms. Malahat Awan, Director Alumni Affairs, Resource Mobilization & Corporate Affairs, IBA.

The session commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Hamidah Wali, Chief Marketing Officer, Tapal Tea (Pvt) Ltd. The event focused on the present and future direction of Pakistan and how businesses can find silver linings in turbulent times. During the ninety-minute-long session, business leaders emphasized on identifying untapped opportunities across a wide range of segments, including manufacturing, services, agriculture, and startup sectors. The conversation also identified how city-dwellers can look at the enormous potential of wealth creation in the rural economies where a significant number of Pakistanis live.

For Pakistan to bear through the tough economic times, the panelists urged members of the audience to buy local products.
