March 14, 2022: Dr. Nasir Afghan, Assistant Professor, School of Business Studies and Director, China Study Centre, IBA, delivered a talk on 'Industrial Relocation: Dynamics and Opportunities for Industrialization in Pakistan' at CPEC Industrial Cooperation B2B Investment Conference. The conference was organized by the Federal Board of Investment, in collaboration with the Government of Sindh and Pakistan China Business and Investment Forum.
The conference was attended by 100 Chinese companies and over 400 Pakistani businessmen.
Keynote speaker, Dr. Afghan discussed that CPEC is Pakistan's Marshall Plan. Pakistan should achieve full play through mobilizing special economic zones (SEZs) and creating a favourable ecosystem for Chinese, American, and European businesses to come and invest in Pakistan. Furthermore, Dr. Afghan discussed making the Dhabeji Industrial Zone a success story and then replicating the same model to other SEZs, just as China did in Shenzhen in the 1980s.
