IBA Karachi and PMN to extend support to microfinance sector
May 17, 2023: The Center for Executive Education (CEE), Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi, has entered into a partnership with Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN). The primary aim of this collaboration is to extend support to the microfinance sector in Pakistan. The signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was held at the PMN's office located in Islamabad.
Under the agreement, IBA-CEE will design specialized training programs tailored to meet the specific needs of professionals in the microfinance sector as part of the collaboration.
The IBA representatives included, Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director; Dr. Asad Ilyas, Registrar; Dr. Abdullah Zafar Sheikh, Dean School of Business Studies (SBS); Kamran Bilgrami, Director Center for Executive Education (CEE); Dr. Sharjeel Hasnie, Head of Testing Services, and other team members.
Mr. Ali Basharat, Head of Operations, PMN, and other PMN Leadership members were also present on the occasion.
Dr. Zaidi acknowledged the significance of microfinance institutions while appreciating PMN's role as the industry's central repository of information. He further emphasized that PMN has played a significant role in establishing the sector's credibility on a global level.
Syed Mohsin Ahmad, CEO, PMN, expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration, emphasizing the value of IBA's expertise in delivering research-based training to enhance the skills of professionals in the field.
PMN is an organization that serves as the representative body for prominent microfinance banks, non-banking microfinance institutions (NBMFIs), and government support programs in Pakistan. In conjunction with IBA's CEE, they will impart specialized leadership and management training initiatives tailored for microfinance professionals.
IBA Karachi has recently expanded its presence nationwide by opening a new office in Islamabad, which is now fully operational.
