IBA Karachi hosts Mr. Aqeel Karim Dhedhi for collaborative talks

21 September, 2023: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi hosted Mr. Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Founder and Chairman, AKD Group, for a visit with Executive Director IBA, Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, to explore avenues of collaboration and engagement.

Mr. Dhedhi was welcomed by Dr. Zaidi along with the senior IBA leadership including Dr. Abdullah Zafar Sheikh, Dean, School of Business Studies (SBS); Dr. Asad Ilyas, Registrar; Dr. Hilal Anwar Butt, Chairperson, Finance Department; SBS; Dr. Wali Ullah, Head of Testing Services; and Ms. Malahat Awan, Director Alumni Affairs, Resource Mobilization and Corporate Affairs. Mr. Dhedhi was accompanied by Mr. Usman Zahid, IBA Alumnus and Executive Director, Research, AKD Securities.

The meeting focused on exploring avenues of collaboration between AKD Group's vast business operations as well as a discussion on the state of economics and current trends in Pakistan. Mr. Dhedhi shared his experiences navigating his organizations through previous turbulent economic times and the opportunities that are often right in front of our eyes through investing in competitive growing markets. He was optimistic about Pakistan's stock market and expressed his utmost confidence in investing long-term in markets to get the best returns over time. Through his knowledge gathered through his diverse investment portfolio, he also stressed some measures that could be taken to resolve Pakistan's energy woes.

The discussion culminated in identifying avenues where the IBA and the AKD Group could work together toward the benefit of the IBA fraternity. IBA is keen to benefit from Mr. Dhedhi's wisdom and experience and hopes to engage him across different avenues for learning and development.
