IBA Karachi hosts Coventry University delegation for collaborative engagement and academic exchange
November 20-21, 2023: The School of Mathematics and Computer Science (SMCS) at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi, hosted a delegation from Coventry University as part of the 'Faculty Mobility Program’ and with an aim to foster collaborative efforts and academic exchange.
The major objective of this program was to build a sense of community among participants, promoting mentorship from Senior Researchers (SRs) to Early Career Researchers (ECRs), enhancing professional development, research skills, and leadership potential. The researchers will leverage their experiences to collaboratively develop multidisciplinary research proposals in robotics and AI that address national challenges.
The Coventry University delegation included, Dr. Andree Woodcock, Professor, Education, Ergonomics & Design; Dr. Sheena Gardner, Professor Applied Linguistics; Dr. Amir Hosein Sadeghi Manesh, Research Fellow (DEWCAD Project); Dr. Olivier Cyrille Louis Haas, Assistant Professor, Intelligent Transport System; Dr. Thanh Cong Huynh, Assistant Professor, Entrepreneurship; Dr. SM Charlesworth, Professor, Urban Physical Geography; Dr. Vasile Palade, Professor, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science; and Dr. Allison Halford, Assistant Professor, Computational Science and Mathematics Modelling.
The first day comprised of meetings with IBA leadership, including Acting Executive Director IBA, Dr. Shakeel Khoja; Registrar, Dr. Mohammad Asad Ilyas; Dean Student Affairs, Maheen Ghauri; Head, Career Development Centre (CDC), Syed Atif Murtaza Qaiser, and Director, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), Dr. Sana Tauseef, where discussions ranged from office operations to international student exchange programs.
The delegation also met with the Dean, Chairpersons, and the faculty members of the School of Business Studies (SBS) and visited Finance and Neuromarketing labs at the SBS. The day ended with technical talks and presentations from the faculty members and PhD research students from SMCS, where they showcased IBA's expertise in their respective areas.
The second day featured group discussions, a design thinking workshop, and interactive sessions with Coventry University's Postgraduate Research students, emphasizing potential research collaborations.
The visit extended to IBA City Campus, providing insights into various academic centers and initiatives, highlighting commitment towards mutual growth and academic excellence.
