IBA Faculty invited as a speaker on PIA Annual Flight Safety seminar
IBA faculty, Dr. Nasir Afghan, a safety culture expert for high reliability and high risk organizations in Pakistan, was recently invited to speak at the annual PIA Flight Safety Seminar. Dr. Afghan spoke at length about increasing trends in safety hazards at the workplace. With references made to the Three Miles Island incident in 1979, Chenobyl Disaster in 1986 and Fukushima Nuclear Disaster in 2011, he elaborated on incorporating the human element into technology-based safety systems i.e socio-technical safety implementation. With organizations showing worrying signs of declining safety standards globally, Dr. Afghan stressed that top leadership must lead from the front and make safety a priority. Employees must strictly adhere to safety rules and regulations and there must be a constant need to assess and improve safety protocols at the workplace.
