IBA Faculty Illuminates Physics Beyond the Standard Model at LUMS
October 09, 2024: Dr. Shabana Nisar, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematical Sciences, IBA-SMCS, delivered an invited seminar at LUMS, exploring one of the most profound questions in science: 'What is the world made of?'
In the seminar, Dr. Nisar delved into the theoretical mathematical frameworks that describe the subatomic realm, offering insights into the fundamental building blocks of matter. Dr. Nisar also discussed some of the unsolved mysteries that have long puzzled physicists, including the imbalance between matter and antimatter, the elusive nature of dark matter, and the enigma of dark energy.
In her concluding remarks, Dr. Nisar also ventured beyond the Standard Model, discussing theories such as supersymmetry and extra dimensions, problems that continue to challenge and inspire physicists worldwide.
