IBA celebrates power of community at the ‘Friends of IBA Meet & Greet’ event

May 24, 2024: The Resource Mobilization team at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi hosted its inaugural ‘Friends of IBA Meet & Greet’ event at the City Campus. This event marked the launch of a collaborative campaign with Danish Aman, Director, Hafiz Tannery and a dedicated philanthropist, to support students at IBA Karachi. Mr. Aman is a prominent figure in Pakistan's philanthropy sector and has been recognized by the former President Mr. Arif Alvi for his services in Sindh and Baluchistan.

IBA welcomed new supporters and celebrated the generosity of its existing community, showcasing the transformative power of education. Scholars from the National Talent Hunt Program (NTHP), IBA, shared their stories of struggle and triumph.

Attendees included several notable industrialists and philanthropists including Mr. & Mrs. Mian Mohammad Abdullah, Chairman and Founder, Sapphire Group; Mr. Jameel Yousuf, Chairman, TPL Corp. Ltd.; Mr. Basir Shamsie, CEO, JS Bank; Mr. Mohammad Hassan Bakshi, Former Chairman, ABAD; and Mr. Masood Naqi, Director, Rajby Industries.

Representing IBA were Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director; Malahat Awan, Director Alumni Affairs, Resource Mobilization & Corporate Affairs; Dr. Abdullah Zafar Sheikh, Professor & Dean School of Business Studies; Dr. Irum Saba, Associate Professor and Program Director MS IBF; and Asma Inayat, Head of Marketing & Communications.

The event commenced with a welcome note by Ms. Awan, who shared the story and growth of IBA over the years. Dr. Zaidi, in his address, thanked the guests for their continuous support and shared his vision on the impact their generosity has created. This set the stage for highlighting the collective efforts of IBA in providing quality higher education and building a generation of leaders, who are now titans of industry around the world.

Mr. Aman, along with long-time supporters, Jameel Yousuf and Mian Mohammad Abdullah, delivered words of encouragement, emphasizing that education is the greatest gift one can give. They reinforced the idea that empowering individuals through education enables communities to thrive. Their message of hope and positivity resonated with the audience, concluding the event on an inspirational note.

The event was a testament to the impact that can be achieved when individuals unite for a shared purpose. IBA is grateful for the trust and support of its community and looks forward to fostering meaningful connections and furthering its mission to empower deserving students through education.
