IBA and Katalyst Labs empower students with career insights
22 July 2023: The School of Mathematics and Computer Science (SMCS), IBA in collaboration with Katalyst Labs held a careers and graduate school focused event at the Main Campus. The event was attended by 120 people including students and faculty members. SMCS was represented by Dr. Shakeel Khoja, Dean; Dr. Tahir Syed, Assistant Professor; Dr. Imran Rauf, Assistant Professor; Mr. Jawwad Farid, Professor of Practice; and Mr. Ryan Tasdeeq.
Panelists included Ms. Sheba Najmi, Director UX and Product Design, FreeWill; Ms. Sophia Hasnain, Founder and CEO, Linked Things; Ms. Madiha Shafquat, Epidemiology Research Assistant, Pfizer; and Ms. Nida Farid, Founder SaveJoules. The panel was moderated by Ms. Jehan Ara, Founder and CEO, Katalyst Labs.
The panel answered multiple questions from the audience covering topics including job applications, career paths and distinguishing oneself. Additionally, the panelists discussed their journeys in graduate education, careers, research interests, civic tech, public impact, and the use of open datasets.
The discussion concluded with the closing remarks from Dr. Khoja. The discussion proved to be an insightful experience for the attendees, providing valuable guidance from esteemed panelists.
