IBA alumni reunite to explore the future of Banking and HR industries

June 03, 2023: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi hosted an industry-specific reunion for over seventy Banking and HR alumni at the City Campus. The alumni had a chance to engage with Mr. Jamal Nasir, Chief HR Officer, Habib Bank Limited (HBL); Mr. Sohail Mohammed, Alumni Representative on IBA's Board of Governors; and Ms. Malahat Awan, Director, IBA Alumni Affairs, Resource Mobilization and Corporate Affairs department.

Ms. Awan welcomed all the attendees and expressed gratitude for their presence at the event. She shared IBA's new initiatives including, launching chapters around the world and conducting more industry-specific events for alumni to come together and grow their networks. Mr. Mohammed also welcomed the guests and shared his vision on making the community more engaging and cohesive under his role as the IBA BoG member. While, IBA alumna, faculty and Patron, IBA Alumni and Placement Society, Ms. Yasmin Zafar, emphasized the significance of alumni supporting one another in achieving success.

Mr. Nasir informed the alumni about the future of work and how AI, data and technology are shaping the roles and innovations within the Banking and HR industry.

He urged Pakistanis to embrace a learning mindset to keep up with the advancing world. Answering questions from the attendees, Mr. Nasir discussed how companies can create a culture of growth and learning. He also highlighted the importance of retaining talent through market-benchmarked compensation and expanding the talent pool locally and globally.

The event brought together bankers and professionals from over forty companies and had alumni attending from as early as the 1977 batch.
