SMCS Hosts First Session of Basic Notions Seminar Series on 'Multigrid Methods in Scientific Computing: An Introduction'

February 21, 2025: The Department of Mathematical Sciences, IBA-SMCS, hosted the first session of the Basic Notions Seminar Series, featuring Dr. Hisham Bin Zubair, Chairperson, Department of Mathematical Sciences. In this insightful session, Dr. Hisham explored the fundamental principles behind multigrid methods, tracing their development and emphasizing their significance as a preferred approach for solving a wide range of Partial Differential Equation (PDE) problems.

The talk provided a detailed discussion on applying multigrid techniques to the stationary 3D diffusion problem, complemented by a live demonstration of a simple MATLAB solver implementing this method.
