Guidelines for Usage

  • Responsibility:
    You are fully accountable for your actions while using the lab. This includes taking care of the equipment, ensuring ethical conduct during research, and respecting the lab environment.

Any damage caused must be reported immediately.

  • Confidentiality:
    Respect the privacy of participants at all times. Ensure that all data collected is anonymized and stored securely.

Do not share identifiable information about participants outside of authorized research purposes.

Available Resources and How to Use Them
  • Observation Room:
    • The Observation Room is equipped with a one-way mirror, recording equipment, and seating for researchers.
    • This space may be used in a way to conduct and observe experiments without directly interfering with participants.
  • One-Way Mirror:
    • The one-way mirror can help to allow researchers to observe participants discreetly.
    • Please note that when the lights are on, the observer may be visible from the other side of the mirror.
  • Observation Cameras:
    • These cameras are installed to capture participant behavior during studies.
    • Test the cameras in advance to ensure they are functioning correctly and positioned appropriately.
    • Check recording settings to ensure data is stored securely. After use, transfer recordings to a secure, designated storage location and delete them from temporary devices if necessary.
  • Recording Devices:
    • Audio recording devices are available and can be used by researchers.
  • Computers and Software:
    • SPSS 23 is installed on the 2 computers in the Observation Room.
    • The computers can be used for data analysis, running experiments, or accessing assessment tools.
    • Do not install unauthorized software or make changes to system settings.
Timing and Preparation
  • Arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time to ensure readiness and to set up the required equipment.
Post-Use Clean-Up
  • After using the lab, ensure all equipment is turned off and returned to its original position.
  • Wipe down surfaces, remove personal belongings, and dispose of any waste appropriately.
  • Verify that no confidential documents or data are left behind.
Reporting Issues
  • Report any issues with equipment, such as malfunctioning cameras or computers, to the lab supervisor immediately.
