IBA Faculty Member Samreen Kazi Successfully Defends PhD Thesis

IBA Karachi congratulates Samreen Kazi, Lecturer and PhD Scholar, Department of Computer Science, School of Mathematics & Computer Science (SMCS), on successfully defending her PhD thesis titled “Towards Building Urdu Language Machine Reading Comprehension Framework for Question Answering” on September 18, 2026.

Her research was supervised by Dr. Shakeel Khoja, Professor and Dean, SMCS. The thesis was evaluated by external examiners Dr. Rao Adeel Nawab, Associate Professor, COMSATS University, Lahore Campus, and Dr. Muhammad Kamran Malik, Professor, PUCIT, University of the Punjab.

The thesis defense was attended by faculty members of the Department of Computer Science. This academic milestone reflects Samreen Kazi’s continued contribution to research in computer science, particularly in the area of Urdu language machine reading comprehension and question answering.
