New York State Deputy Speaker: Emphasized over bilateral relations with the IBA community
November 07, 2023: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi recently hosted New York State Deputy Speaker, Philip Ramos at the Main Campus. The casual conversation was attended by students, staff and IBA faculty members.
Addressing the attendees, Mr. Ramos highlighted the need to foster cordial bilateral relationships between Pakistan and United States by focusing on leading topics such as trade, health, education, and culture. He emphasized how American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee (APPAC) is dedicated to pioneering new innovative approaches free from geo-political situations, and hence making it one of its kind. Mr. Ramos emphasized the historical, cultural, and economic ties that bind the two nations and underscored the need for continued collaboration to address global issues, including climate change and security concerns.
IBA representatives including Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director IBA; Dr. Asma Hyder, Dean, School of Economics and Social Science; and Dr. Muhammad Nasir, Assistant Professor and Chairperson, Department of Economics were also present at the event. Dr. Zaidi welcomed Mr. Ramos and conveyed that such visits are essential for encouraging intercultural comprehension and nurturing the next generation of global leaders.
The event provided a unique opportunity for the attendees to gain an understanding of the diplomatic efforts underway to strengthen ties between the United States and Pakistan. It was encouraging for participants to actively engage in dialogue surrounding international relations and diplomacy.
