Meeting with Executive Director Bank Al Habib to facilitate provision of quality education

September 01, 2021: In a recent visit to the IBA Karachi, Executive Director, Bank Al Habib Limited, Mr. Qumail R. Habib and GM Corporate Affairs, Mr. Syed Siddiqui met with Executive Director IBA, Dr. S Akbar Zaidi. The IBA team included, Dr. Wajid Rizvi, Dean School of Business Studies; Dr. Asma Hyder, Dean School of Economics and Social Sciences; Dr. Shakeel Khoja, Dean School of Mathematics and Computer Science; Mr. Moeid Sultan, Director Finance; Dr. Asad Ilyas, Registrar; Dr. Asim Shabir, Director MBA program and Ms. Malahat Awan, Director Corporate Relations.

Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2009, Bank Al Habib provided a grant of PKR 50 million to set up a chair in the name of Hamid D Habib at IBA. The grant now amounts to PKR 164 million.

Dr. Zaidi gave a presentation to Mr. Habib on how the IBA has evolved into an inter-disciplinary university offering more than 20 programs. He also shed light on IBA’s scholarship program, under which IBA gives scholarships to at least 30% of its student body. The guests were also briefed about IBA’s expansion plans. Moreover, Dr. Zaidi and Mr. Habib both expressed a desire to set up a chair in the near future to facilitate the provision of quality education.

The meeting concluded with a campus tour. Mr. Habib was very impressed by the diversity of the programs and was especially interested in the courses offered in the MBA program.
