IBA Student Participates in COP-ASIC Platform for Global Climate Policy Discussions
Our MS Economics student, Saif Muhammad Shah, represented Pakistan in the Global Platform COP-ASIC held in Bangkok, Thailand. Selected from over 6,000 applicants, Saif's research, titled 'Towards Net-Zero Emissions: Decarbonization of Pakistan's Cement Industry,' showcased innovative approaches to reducing carbon emissions in one of the country's most critical sectors.
Saif is part of the first cohort of the Research Mentorship Program under the SPAR6C initiative, which was inaugurated by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination. The initiative was funded by the German government and executed by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). The initiative also seeks support by international entities such as UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre and GFA Consulting.
Saif's research was formally recognized at the event, which saw policymakers, NGOs, and climate experts in attendance.
We congratulate Saif on this remarkable achievement and wish him success in his future goals.
