A Training on ERT Concepts, Rescue & Survival and Fire Emergency
April 27: A basic training session on ERT (Emergency Response Team) Concepts, Rescue & Survival and Fire Emergency was held at the IBA City Campus. The basic aim was to train the participants to react quickly in resolving crises, preventing fire, and saving lives. The Chief Guest, a top official from the City Fire Brigade Department, Mr. Tehseen Ahmed Siddiqui also attended the session. He imparted training on how to combat fire in the shortest possible time frame with top skills. He was quite impressed by IBA's interest in these measures and promised his sincere help if the Fire Department's services are required. The audience remained very engaged and interactive throughout the 3 hour session in which all concepts were discussed in detail.
The First Aid concept was discussed by Dr Rizwana of Hilal e Ahmer, who is also a First Aid Coordinator representing the Pakistan Red Crescent Society/ Red Cross with 17 years of rich experience in the relevant field. During the training session, she gave practical guidelines along with her volunteers to the audience. The Red Crescent Society also gifted a top of the line First Aid Box with a stock of medicines required in emergency situations. Instructions were given on how these should be effectively used within the first 3 minutes of any unforeseen emergency, since the first 3 minutes can save an individual's life. The Red Crescent Society has also offered to hold a free Session in the future at their premises for IBA students and employees. The other Guest speakers deeply motivated the audience for effective leadership qualities and care that can be best addressed or administered, while a patient is being treated in distress during work.
Above all, the IBA Administrative Team worked very diligently to improve the overall safety procedures during the last 2 weeks at Aman Tower. This included improving the Public Address system and Fire Alarms, filling of optimum levels of water in large water Tanks at City Campus, servicing of all fire extinguishers, and fixing of electric related anomalies by the Engineering Team to eliminate problems during any unforeseen eventuality.
The reviews from the audience were also overwhelmingly positive. More than 105 IBA members learnt the basic techniques about how to respond in emergency situations. This session was only possible under the leadership and guidance of Mr. Aamer Shabbir and the IBA team looks forward to more of such events in the future.
