Research Wing
The IBA has established a Research Wing at the city campus. The purpose of this initiative is to play key role in the development of industrial and financial sectors of Pakistan by providing useful research and evaluation guidance. The activities of IBA's Research Wing consist of both core and collaborative research to provide help to the federal and provincial governments, non-governmental organizations and the private sector.
This Wing is the repository of all core research done by the IBA faculty, scholars and students. The research papers written are documented, archived and available to other researchers and industry. The IBA faculty and students can access these research papers via the IBA intranet.
The interaction of researchers, business and industry is necessary and important for new ideas to develop and to be implemented. The Research Wing undertakes projects and assignments specific to a particular industry or organization. A broad classification of these research projects pertain to areas related to Strategy, Growth, Economics, Organizational HR Development, Marketing and Production Management.

   
ICICT 2005  
1st International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies (ICICT 2005) Karachi Pakistan, was successfully held on 27th – 28th August 2005 at Hotel Pearl Continental Karachi. The major sponsors of this conference were IBA, Microsoft, PTCL, Inbox, Intel, IEEE, ACM, HEC, British Council and PIA.
This activity aimed to capture the new wealth of research initiated by scholars inducted by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, and seeks to enhance the interaction of local and overseas scientists and attempts to foster tangible focus on problems related to the socio economic uplift of the nation.

ICICT 2005 was an outstanding success and was inaugurated by President General Pervez Musharraf . President General Pervez Musharraf has expressed the confidence that the future of Information Technology (IT) and telecommunication in Pakistan is extremely bright.
The President further pointed out that this sector is currently experiencing a boom.
“I am very confident that the future of IT and telecommunication in Pakistan is extremely bright”, he remarked and urged the youngsters to take up this profession.
President General Pervez Musharraf also said that he knows that the youths are venturing into this very field.
He informed the audience that consisted of IT professionals, experts, chief executives of various firms, faculty and students of IBA Karachi that Pakistan is even going for e-governance in a big way. " We are looking for paperless governance", he said.

ICICT 2007

The ICICT 2007 was held from 15th to 16th December, 2007 at the IBA City Campus, Karachi. The conference was an outstanding success and included a number of key note speakers by international as well as national delegates from all over Pakistan. The conference included workshops/tutorials as well as forum discussions by industry participants including Microsoft, Intel and Mobilink. The chief guest at the inauguration ceremony was Professor Akhtar Kalam, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health, Engineering & Science at Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia. The closing ceremony was presided by the Sindh Caretaker Minister for Information Technology, Environment, Alternative Energy, Mines and Mineral Development Mr. Jam Karam Ali. Also present on the occasion was Justice Khalid Ali Z. Qazi, Judge, High Court of Sindh & Chairman, IBA Board of Governors.
