Karachi, May 20, 2009: The
Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi signed an
agreement with the Oracle Academy to introduce the Oracle
Academy’s Advanced Computer Science program at IBA. This
program will help IBA Computer Science students to develop
the business and technology skills required for the modern
professional world.
The agreement will enable IBA to integrate Oracle Academy’s
software and curriculum into its undergraduate and graduate
programs. By combining the Oracle Academy with IBA’s
Academia-Industry Alliances Program (AIAP), IBA students get
access to world-class technical curriculum and gain hands-on
experience with Oracle’s industry-leading database and
middleware software.
The Oracle Academy helps students worldwide to develop
business and technology skills and provides teachers with
world-class training and professional development
opportunities by granting software, curriculum, and
certification resources to high schools, vocational centers,
colleges and universities.
Addressing the audience at the
signing ceremony, Dean & Director IBA, Dr Ishrat Husain
said, “IBA students will benefit from the Oracle Academy
curriculum, gaining hands-on practical knowledge with
industry-leading software while developing in-demand
skills."
Associate Dean, Dr Sayeed Ghani added, “The addition of the
Oracle Academy program will provide students with a
competitive edge. BS (Computer Science) and BBA students
specializing in MIS will achieve highly marketable skills
with greater process/domain knowledge and using cutting edge
enterprise solutions.”
Samina Rizwan, Regional Director, Oracle SAGE West said: “It
gives me great pleasure to welcome IBA into the Oracle
Academy program. Through the Oracle Academy’s Advanced
Computer Science curriculum, IBA will equip its students
with the tools and knowledge that will give them an edge in
the professional world. With the Oracle Academy, IBA's
Computer Science students will be able to add more value to
their academic profile. ”
Imran Khan, Project Manager AIAP & Faculty of Computer
Science highlighted that the IBA-Oracle alliance will enable
IBA to produce highly skilled consultants, software
engineers and IT entrepreneurs in order to meet the
increasing demand of experts in the field of Databases,
Information Systems and ERP.
The partnership with the Oracle Academy is part of the
Director’s IBA Strategic Plan, which envisions IBA to be
ranked among the top 100 global business schools and top 10
business schools in the region in five years. The IBA-Oracle
partnership proves to be a milestone in this direction and
is part of multi-dimensional reforms recently introduced in
