Karachi, April 6, 2009: Mr. Salim Ghauri, CEO NetSol
Technologies, visited The Institute of Business
Administration Karachi, as part of the “Distinguished
Lecture Series”. NetSol Technologies, launched by Mr. Ghauri
in 1996, is ranked among the top 10 fastest growing Software
Companies in the US and is also ranked on NASDAQ. Mr. Ghauri
is also the Honourable Honorary Consul General of Australia
in Pakistan. Mr. Sultan Raza, senior faculty member,
welcomed Mr. Ghauri and lauded his efforts as an
entrepreneur.
Speaking on the topic of “Entrepreneurship”, Mr. Ghauri
invited the audience to be a dreamer. He explained that in
order to achieve big goals, you have to dream bigger. The
speaker said that luck favours those who take risks and are
prepared to march on despite the odds and harsh adversities.
Speaking about NetSol, Mr Ghauri elaborated on the humble
beginnings of the company in Australia and its gradual rise
as a competent and innovative software company. Mr. Ghuari
stressed on being different and quoted his ambition of
joining NASDAQ as an example. The speaker emphasized on
diversifying operations in order to minimize risks and to
expand into newer frontiers. In a final advice to aspiring
entrepreneurs, Mr. Ghauri urged the audience to accept
Pakistan as it is and to strive for making it a better
place.
The Director IBA, Dr. Ishrat Husain thanked the esteemed
guest for enlightening the audience on the various facets of
Entrepreneurship and the incumbent challenges. The Director
advised the students never to give up in the face of
hardships and to learn from role models such as Mr. Ghauri
and other inspiring business leaders of today. The Director
then presented Mr. Salim Ghauri with a commemorative shield
and closed the session.
The Director IBA, then concluded the session by thanking
the guest speaker. He was of the view that Islamic Model of
Economics is the way forward since it combines the good
aspects of capitalism and socialism.

Dr. Ishrat Husain presented Mr. Syed Ali Raza with a
commemorative shield and closed the session.
