Aug 19, 2019: Launch of Islamic Finance Society

19th, August, 2019: Dr. Irum Saba’s, vision for an Islamic Finance Society to create awareness and knowledge of Islamic Finance among university students, was realized with official launch of the society. Dr. Irum Saba, is also the Patron of Islamic Finance Society.

The chief guests of the launching ceremony were, Leading Shariah Scholars, Dr. Akram Lal Din, Executive Director, International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA), Malaysia. Mufti Irshad Ahmad Aijaz, Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Board, & Mufti Muhammad Hassaan Kaleem Resident Shariah Board Member, Dubai Islamic Bank, Pakistan. Renowned Islamic Bankers, Mr. Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, Head of Shariah Compliance, Meezan Bank. Mr. Usman Sajjad, Corporate Head South, MCB Islamic Ltd, Mr. Amir Zaidi, Head of Commercial Banking & SME at Albaraka Bank (Pakistan). And Prominent Academician Dr, Eskandar Shah, Associate Dean (SGPS) INCEIF, Malaysia.

The chief guests in their keynote speeches focused on the need of awareness and understanding of Islamic finance among students. Moreover, they supported the initiative whole heartedly and acknowledged that this would bring upon a change in the field.

The launch was attended by IBA, Faculty & MS Islamic Banking and Finance, MBA & BBA Students. The Alumni of INCEIF, Malaysia, also participated in the event, and welcomed the initiative.
