IBA CED's Certificate Students visited Interior Sindh - A Journey of wonderful memories
It was Sunday the 31st of January 2016 when students of Certificate in Entrepreneurship program, AMAN CED, IBA Karachi began a journey of wonderful memories. There were cold breezes and the sun was giving slight warmth at 7:30am in the morning when students and participants along with the faculty including Dr. Shahid Qureshi, Dr. Imran Khan and Muhammad Talha Azeem and IBA CED team departed from the IBA campus. The first destination was the Institute of Sindhology, University of Sindh where visitors experienced the historical enrichment of province of Sindh. From different types of settlements up till different instruments used in the province of Sindh, all exhibits were very bewitching and informative. There were sections kept as general, coins, archaeological, ethnological, ethno-musical, photographic, and Indus-painting galleries respectively. There was a special gallery devoted to prominent personalities that contains portraits of more than 175 eminent writers, scholars, educationists, social workers, Philanthropists, politicians, lawyers, freedom fighters, spiritual leaders and public figures. Special corners were devoted for people such as Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama I.I. Kazi, Hassan Ali Affendi, Pir Hussamuddin Rashdi, Syed Gulam Mustafa Shah, Muhammad Usman Diplai, and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. There were specific galleries in the name of Benazir Bhutto and N.A Baloch, as well as Mir Talpur's Court. It was truly an opportunity for young IBA undergrads and participants to visualize how rich is the province of Sindh in terms of beautiful art work and diversified cultures. For this wonderful experience and facilitation Dr. Shahid presented a shield of appreciation to museum curator on behalf of IBA.
The journey continued and stopped at DS Motors in Hyderabad. The primary objective was to see the operations and supply chain activities of one the most acknowledged and fastest growing firm of Pakistan. It was informed that D.S. Motors was established in 2004, the production unit was installed for assembling and manufacturing of Motor Cycle and Loading Van under brand name "UNIQUE". The Company is manufacturing and marketing motorbikes under the brand name of "UNIQUE". The company manufactures 70cc and 125cc motorbikes equipped with CDI system. Another flagship product of DS Motors is its Three Wheeler CNG Auto Rickshaw which the firm is also exporting to countries like Sri Lanka. Overall, the firm was offering high performance, elegant and economical auto machines. The factory was well organized and well equipped with a sections dealing with the manufacturing from Chassis engine, coloring, laboratory testing up till the final P D I section. A gesture of hospitality was showcased by the company administration and for the recognition Dr. Shahid presented a shield to the CEO of DS Motors.
The last destination was Sadique Sons fruit and Agricultural Farm in Tando allahyar. The weather was bit cold and pleasant in Tando allahyar. Upon arrival, the students tasted some traditional and tempting sindhi dishes for lunch. A great hospitality was showcased by the Sadique foundation. Later on, students and participants were briefed about the farm and operations of sadique foundation during a simple and splendid ceremony arranged in Degree College existing near by the farm. The ceremony began with the recitation of Holy quran followed by a naat. The introduction to the farm and Sadique foundation was made by Mr. Muhammad Taha, Representative of Sadique foundation. The total acreage of Sadique sons fruit and agricultural farm is nearly 1600 acres carrying fruit orchards, vegetable plantations and field crops like wheat, cotton and sugar cane. After the introduction, on behalf of IBA Dr. Shahid Qureshi presented a shield of appreciation to the Mr. Sadique. A traditional gift of ajrak from Sadique Foundation was presented to Dr. Shaihd Qureshi, Mrs. Ambreen Shahid, Dr. Imran Khan, Muhammad Talha Azeem and Rao Israr Ahmed. After the ceremony the students and participants visited the agricultural farm where they found an opportunity to see mango and sapota orchards. Mr. Muhammad Taha was present during the visit to answer all of the queries raised by the visitors. After visiting orchards, the visitors were taken to vegetable section where they saw the newly planted field of green chilies. Later, the students and participants saw the banana packaging house which was present to show case post-harvest processing and management of horticultural produce. Overall, the trip ended with the vibrant and overwhelming interest of students and participants in the opportunities associated with the agricultural systems.
The sun was setting down when the returning journey began. While returning to home a short stay at Sindh agricultural university was made where tea was offered at university's guest house.
This trip filled with lots of fun, information and experiences came to end when we reached IBA campus at thirty past midnight.
