IBA International Entrepreneurship Summer School 2019
August 1-25, 2019: IBA Aman Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) held the 4th edition of the IBA International Entrepreneurship Summer School (IESS) at the IBA Karachi, Main Campus.
The 25-day program was divided into academic sessions, exploring cultural and geographical diversity of Pakistan. IESS was designed to impart the taste of entrepreneurship from a South Asian perspective, while immersing in the cultural richness of Pakistan through workshops, lectures, cultural events, recreational activities and countrywide travelling to the beautiful landscapes of the country.
IESS 2019 hosted over 18 international faculty members, bloggers, students, content creators and entrepreneurs from USA, Canada, Brazil, Italy, Switzerland, Russia, Thailand, Philippines, Australia and Mexico and Qatar.
The program commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony, with a speech from GM Administration Mr. Aamer Shabbir which was followed by a grand entrance of the international participants on rickshaws.
Through the 10-day Experience Karachi program, participants were given academic and guest speaker sessions on entrepreneurial training.
The program was also graced by the presence of various national guest speakers hailing from different universities of Pakistan, and esteemed international faculty who flew in from Thailand, Canada and Qatar. They geared to teaching an attitude that shaped a specific set of traits which would make a successful entrepreneur while providing the participants an opportunity to develop the effectual skills and experience the challenge of scaling up a start-up from local to an international level.
After completing the academic part of the program, participants were taken on a trip around Sindh from August 10-13, 2019. The participants visited various historical places including Makli, Kot Diji, Satiyan Jo Asthan and Mohenjo Daro.
Foreign participants also celebrated the Independence Day at the Main campus, where they took part in a flag hoisting ceremony, tree plantation and an interactive session with Acting Executive Director Dr. Sayeed Ghani and other members of the senior management.
The participants along with the IBA team set off on an extensive Pakistan Tour. This part of the program i.e. Discovering Pakistan introduced the participants to the wonderful surprises this country has to offer; ranging from the fast-moving metropolitan cities of Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad to the peaceful lifestyle of its people in the enchanting valleys of Naran, Kaghan and Hunza, followed by breathtaking rafting, trekking and hiking experiences in the heart of northern areas.
