A guest speaker session on e-retailing

January 23, 2020: Assistant Professor and Director CEE, IBA Mr. Jami Moiz organized a guest speaker session for MBA Retail Management students. Chief Operating Officer of Goto.com, Mr. Adnan Mirza with 17 years of experience in the retail sector was the guest speaker for the session.

The session revolved around the current landscape of retailing in Pakistan. Mr. Mirza initiated the session by inquiring about the students' experiences regarding online and offline retail outlets. The students gained an insight on the sudden expansion in the online market and how marketers are trying to increase the customer base in Pakistan by educating the potential customers.

The students learned that the demand for digital content has increased and online logistics for delivery of goods have developed tremendously. There are 4 methods currently being adopted, namely Cross dock, Consignment, Drop shipment and Outright purchase.

The lecture also touched upon some dark realities of the business, which one has to look out for in the future.

The session turned out to be very motivating for young aspiring entrepreneurs as they learned that the e-commerce market is the way forward.
