Former Executive Director IBA discusses the evolving perspectives of World Bank

October 26, 2021:Dr. Aadil Nakhoda, Assistant Professor and Research Fellow at CBER organized a guest speaker session for the Development Economics II students. Former Executive Director and Director Center for Social Policy Research IBA, Dr. Farrukh Iqbal, was invited as the guest speaker for this session.

The session outlined the background of the World Bank, and how it has evolved to manage the economic affairs of several countries, preventing wars and conflicts.

Dr. Iqbal highlighted the major contributions rendered by the World Bank that includes reconstruction of Europe after World War II.

He also talked about how the World Bank has shifted its focus from infrastructural projects to social sector and policy lending projects.
