Orientation Sessions Fall 2016

 Independence Day Celebration at IBA Karachi

18th August, 2016: IBA warmly welcomed its freshmen of various programmes including BBA, BS, MBA, MS and PhD for an orientation program to welcome them to IBA Karachi. The program commenced as a brief documentary, encompassing all aspects of IBA, was shown to the students. Followed by Tilawat, Registrar Capt. Ahmed Zaheer (Retd.) briefed the new minds about the Code of Conduct, IBA Community, Academic Calendar, Attendance & Grading rules and Affiliations. While informing the students about the faculty members and their qualification, he said, “Over the past decade, IBA has focused upon the induction of PhD faculty, as they are the real fabricators and disseminators of Knowledge.”

Later on, the Directors and Chairpersons of the Programs took charge of the stage and delivered comprehensive overviews of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and IBA’s core values. Dr. Nasir Afghan (Director MBA program), while shedding light upon the excellence of IBA, said, ‘IBA is a factory of producing brilliant CEOs and no that no other institution in Pakistan has produced as many CEOs and Country Managers’. He went on to talk about the importance of education and the part a good MBA program plays in it. Mr. S.M Saeed, Student Counselor, congratulated the freshmen for succeeding the stringent process of induction at IBA. ‘You will get your degree after 4 years but you have already achieved the title of ICIS (IBA Certified Intelligent Students), he said as the students enjoyed his humor. He, then, enumerated the list of clubs, societies, their patrons and the activities organized by them, which include excursion trips, major events etc.

Dr. Farrukh Iqbal, the newly appointed Dean & Director IBA, made his first appearance in an academic event at IBA. As he welcomed the freshmen to the institute, he said, “You have become the newest stakeholder of IBA community and you have to live up to this title.” Dr. Farrukh briefly talked about aspects of IBA and said, “IBA has maintained its high standard in the span of 6 decades and the preservation of the standard is its best quality. Our vision is to produce leaders who generate innovative ideas that address the needs of a country.” While he informed students and parents about the National Talent Hunt Programs, he said, “Giving back to the community is one of the major aims of IBA and IBA hopes to inculcate good moral and ethical values alongside academic values in its students.” Dr. Farrukh ended his speech as he addressed the parents, “Your hard work is paid off. Your child is now a part of the one of the best institutes in Pakistan and it wouldn’t have been possible without your effort. We look forward to the innovative ideas that these fresh minds would bring to this institute.”

The ceremony marked its end as the refreshments were served and students were taken for a campus tour.
