NBEAC set to organize 5th Deans and Directors Annual Conference in Karachi

Accreditation Council (NBEAC) of Pakistan is organizing the 5th
Deans and Directors Annual Conference on 5th & 6th February,
2018 at Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi. NBEAC is a national
level accrediting authority to organize and carry out
comprehensive program of accreditation established by Higher
Education Commission (HEC) in 2007.
Governor Sindh, Mr. Muhammad Zubair, will be the chief guest of the two-day conference while Chairman NBEAC, Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad, will chair the conference. Designed to increase the effectiveness of business education in Pakistan, the conference will bring together more than 100 deans and directors of national and international business schools to engage in strategic level discussions. This year, the theme of the conference is “Creating Impact with CPEC”, focusing on the balance required between global paradigms versus the need to customize business education in Pakistan according to the local needs.
With an exhaustive list of eminent speakers, the 5th Deans and Directors Annual Conference happens to be the most anticipated event in the educational arena. Notable speakers include Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Farrukh Iqbal, Dean and Director of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, which is also one of the sponsoring institutions, and Dr. Ishrat Husain, Professor Emeritus, Chairman CEIF and former dean of IBA, Karachi. Other prominent speakers are Dr. Jawad Syed, Dean of Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Dr. Syed Kumail Abbas Rizvi, Associate Professor, Lahore School of Economics (LSE), and Dr. Zaki Rashidi, Associate Dean Management Sciences, IQRA University, Karachi.
The conference promises incorporation of an international perspective by lining up some of the most diverse and distinguished international speakers such as Dr. Christophe Terrasse, Director of Projects European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), Stephen Sacca, CEO of Global Business School Networks, USA, Dr. Mary Sully de Luque, Director Academic at Thunderbird School of Arizona State University, and Mr. Jean-Baptiste Maillard, Manager International Projects Department at European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), Belgium.
The conference aims at actualizing its anticipated outcomes that include developing policy and process recommendations for aligning business education with local and global needs; identifying actions to meet the emerging challenges in business education to make it more relevant for Pakistan; and, recommending policy framework and actions for quality improvements in different areas of business education.
The conference will showcase well-structured plenary sessions, capacity development workshops and quality service seminars, culminating in the NBEAC 19th Council meeting.
One of the four panel discussions will revolve around the “Collaboration with Chinese Business Schools” with speakers such as Prof. Dr. Lai Desheng, Dean of Business School Market Beijing Normal University, Prof. Zhiwen Yin, Associate Dean at School of Management in Fudan University, Prof. Frank Y-H Ying, Dean of Department of Business Administration at National Taiwan Normal University, and Dr. Prof. Guo Xuetang, Director of Institute of International Strategy and Policy Analysis SUIBE. The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Ishrat Husain, currently serving as the Chairman of the Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance (CEIF) at IBA.
Alongside the panel discussions, there will be several workshops to address the issues of Accreditation, Reaccreditation, and how to meet the challenges of business schools/departments within the context of large universities. Also, with Call for Papers being a crucial segment of the conference program, the event will serve as a platform to present original scholarly papers relevant to the theme of the conference.
